How to make a lithophane
- Drop a JPG, PNG or WEBP photo.
- Choose Lithophane, set the width and thickness (0.8–3 mm works well).
- Download the STL and print it standing up in white PLA or white resin, 100% infill.
- Place a light behind it to reveal the picture.
Relief / embossed mode
Relief mode makes light areas higher instead — great for signs, logos, coins and wall art. Use the invert option to swap it.
FAQ
What image works best?
High-contrast photos with a clear subject. Crop the image first and increase the contrast slider if the result looks flat.
Why is the file large?
Each pixel becomes geometry. Lower “Detail (px per mm)” to make a smaller file that still prints well.
